I'm really tired of the runaround we've been getting with T-Mobile's horrible customer service reps. They don't have a clue what they're doing and they're all trained to lie to you.
If you call them, tell them you're recording the conversation after speaking to them for a few minutes and see what happens. They will block your number from calling customer service and if you do get through using a different number they will grill you about if you're recording the conversation.
Yet, T-Mobile says they may be recording your conversation for educational purposes.
Why does it irk T-Mobile is you are recording the call ??
They have something to hide obviously.

I hate t-mobile. Had famil;y phones through them and they were just one of the worst ever.

I have to disagree. T-Mobile has the best customer service and customer support. Problem is most people don't read or question the contracts they get themselves into and blame the company.
